The RCGP Research Paper of the Year Award - Call for Nominations

The Research Paper of the Year Award is now in its fifteenth year. The award recognises research where the findings make a real difference to general practice. 2012 sees a number of new award categories, designed to highlight the excellent research across primary care.

The new award categories are:

• Cancer
• Dementias and Neurodegenerative Diseases
• Diabetes
• Medicines for Children
• Mental Health
• Stroke

Funding opportunities with the NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research (HS&DR) programme

This programme aims to produce rigorous and relevant evidence on the quality, access and organisation of health services, and is now accepting applications to its researcher-led workstream. Closing date Thursday 15 March 2012 by 1pm.

Research governance

The Research Governance Framework for health and social care defines the broad principles of good research governance and is key to ensuring that health and social care research is conducted to high scientific and ethical standards.

Research Ready

The RCGP in conjunction with the UKCRN have launched the new self-assessment level of PCRTA called 'Research Ready', a low level entry guideline to Primary Care research in England.

Accreditation demonstrates that a practice is able to conduct research with an up to date knowledge of standards required when carrying out research and the extra facilities needed to comply with research.
